Cambridge Primary School is for children between the ages of 4 and 11, foundation/reception (kindergarten) through to year 6. We offer an excellent education in an historical and culturally rich setting. To create a meaningful environment for our pupils, we use the Cambridge Primary curriculum. The Cambridge Primary curriculum with Global Perspectives at the heart is designed for the balanced development of the individual within the wider community. We believe that in the initial school years, education is a total experience of living, learning and playing together in a culturally rich setting in which an appreciation of each other is essential. Global perspectives is theme based learning, allowing learners the opportunity to work for a set period of time on a certain theme which will help them to put their learning into context.
Preparing for the future
Our primary section prepares our learners for secondary education. Cambridge Primary helps identify a learner’s strengths and weaknesses and can be used to support learning and development. It prepares learners for a smooth transition into Cambridge Secondary 1. Cambridge Primary provides a strong external benchmark tool. Cambridge Primary assessments, including Progression Checkers (year 3 – 5) tests en Checkpoint (year 6) tests, provide teachers with an international benchmark to inform their teaching and easily measure learners’ progress over time. They also enable detailed, structured reporting to parents.
Well-qualified and experienced teachers who prepare the pupils for a smooth transition into the secondary school teach the Cambridge Primary curriculum. The pupils are taught in small groups using English as the language of instruction. Against additional costs, English support is available for pupils who require extra tuition and special arrangements may be made to help pupils strengthen skills in their native language thus enabling them to re-join the educational system in their own country. Our goal is to ensure that our children have the essential social, creative, literacy, numeracy and scientific skills necessary as they move forward to the ever-more challenging academic environment of secondary education.
We want our learners to develop their social and personal skills in a family atmosphere where each child can feel secure, in a friendly environment, thus creating a zest for learning and life. Our teachers are dedicated to respecting the individuality of our primary school learners.
Our children learn from an early age that education is a positive experience, a perception that will stay with them throughout their lives.
We works towards learners who are:
- confident in working with information and ideas – their own and those of others
- responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others
- reflective and developing their ability to learn
- innovative and equipped for new and future challenges
- engaged intellectually and socially, ready to make a difference.
